Top Students Awarded HKFI Scholarships

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) today (7 April 2004) announces that four top Hong Kong undergraduates have been awarded the HKFI Scholarships 2003/2004. They are:

  1. Mr Fu Kin, Year-Two student of Insurance and Risk Management at Lingnan University ;

  2. Mr Chan Kin Ho, Year-Three student of Insurance and Risk Management at Lingnan University ;

  3. Miss Cheung Hoi Yee, Edith, Year-Three student of Insurance and Risk Management at Lingnan University ;

  4. Miss Ng Mei Ni, a Year-One undergraduate majoring in Actuarial Science at the University of Hong Kong.

Each scholar will receive a cash award of HK$ 20,000 annually until they complete their undergraduate studies.

The Honourable Henry Tang, GBS, JP, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, presented the scholarship certificates to the winner at the HKFI 2004 Annual Dinner which was held on 2 April 2004.

Mr Edward Lau , Chairman of the HKFI said, "We are delighted to award these young and deserving students the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Scholarships. We strongly believe that they will be an invaluable asset to the insurance industry after graduation."

The HKFI Scholarship is funded by the HKFI Educational Trust, which was set up to provide financial support to deserving students who demonstrate outstanding academic merit and leadership qualities. Since its inception in 1989, the HKFI Educational Trust has awarded 58 scholarships to students majoring in Risk and Insurance Management at the Lingnan University and Actuarial Science at the University of Hong Kong .
