In October 2016, IUMI established its first Asia Hub in Hong Kong to deliver enhanced visibility and support to this important marine insurance region. The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI), which provides secretariat support to the Asia Hub, aims at: Align IUMI more closely with the activities and aspirations of practitioners in Asia; Promote marine insurance, raise IUMI’s profile in the region and help foster closer cooperation with its Asian members and the maritime industry in general; Facilitate the exchange of views between members as well as with governments, authorities, regulators and NGOs; Leverage on IUMI’s global insurance expertise and conduct quality education and training to upgrade the industry’s professional standard; Build a broader network and broaden IUMI’s Asian membership.
