Insurance Industry Supported Walk for a Greener Future

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) and the Green Power announced the winners of the HKFI Cup of the Green Power Hike.
Ten teams from the insurance sector joined the Green Power Hike and competed for the HKFI Cup on 19 February 2005. Manulife (International) Limited won the 50 km race from the Peak to Big Wave Bay in 5 hours 51 minutes. The 25 km category went to Aviva General Insurance Limited which finished the race between Tai Tam Country Park and Big Wave Bay in 2 hours 47 minutes.
The insurance sector has raised a total of HK$100,000 in this walkathon to support Green Power's work on environmental education.
Speaking at the kick-off ceremony held at the Peak Galleria, HKFI Chairman Mr K P Chan said, "We at the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers are delighted to have the opportunity to join forces with our business partners in sponsoring this meaningful charitable walkathon organized by Green Power. It demonstrates once again the dedication of our industry to playing an active part in supporting environmental education for a greener future."
CEO of the Green Power Dr Man Chi Sum took the opportunity to thank the HKFI for their whole-hearted support for establishing the HKFI Cup. This was a good starting for the collaboration between the Green Power and insurance industry in promoting environmental protection.
