30/7/2012

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) and the RoadShow today (30 July 2012) visited the Healthy Aging Club of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tuen Mun.  It is the second part of the “Embracing Warmth Cushion Design Workshop” held on 21 July 2012.

The unique cushions designed and hand-knitted by around 100 participants at the workshop were delivered to the senior citizens today.  Joining the event were Chairman of the General Insurance Council Mr Jimmy Poon, Deputy Chairman of the Life Insurance Council Mr Mike Lee and HKFI Chief Executive Mr Peter Tam.

“We are very delighted to be part of this meaningful event,” said Mr Jimmy Poon, Chairman of the General Insurance Council.  “Senior citizens have made invaluable contribution to our society.  These cushions are just very small tokens to express our respect and appreciation to the elderly.”

This was echoed by Mr Mike Lee, Deputy Chairman of the Life Insurance Council, “We spent a wonderful and meaningful afternoon with the elderly.  The insurance industry will continue to serve the senior citizens through HKFI’s CSR projects and offering suitable products and services for the elderly.”

In addition to giving out the hand-made cushions, some participants at the cushion workshop together with the volunteers from the HKFI secretariat shared the joy and delight with the elderly through group games and team activities.
