HKFI's Response to the Development Roadmap for the Insurance Sector in Hong Kong

5/12/2022

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) welcomes the Administration in publishing an overarching blueprint on the Development Roadmap for the insurance sector in Hong Kong today.

The visions and missions of the roadmap are very much in line with the industry’s expectations and aspirations. The visionary roadmap outlines the commitments of connectivity with the Greater Bay Area (GBA) market, closing the protection gap, promoting Fintech development and capturing green and sustainable finance opportunities, where some initiatives are underway and the insurance industry will provide full support and backing to the Administration in implementing the roadmap.

Having the common goal with the Administration to reinvigorate Hong Kong as an international insurance hub and risk management centre, the HKFI has set up a Think Tank on Reinventing Hong Kong’s International Insurance Hub pulling expertise from within and outside the industry to come up with viable recommendations for the consideration of the stakeholders and the Administration. The Think Tank is formulating proposals for promoting the capabilities of the Hong Kong insurance industry to support the execution of the National Strategy, and building an international and local talent pool.

The HKFI will continue to work closely with the Government, IA and different stakeholders to bring the four enablers, namely connectivity, talent, technology and data, into full play to enhance the overall competitiveness of the Hong Kong insurance market.
