HKFI Celebrates 25th Anniversary and Launches the Revamped Website
9/8/2013
The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) celebrated its Silver Jubilee and announced the launch of the newly revamped website on 8 August 2013.
Established on 8 August 1988, the HKFI celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The Honourable John C Tsang, GBM, JP, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, officiated at the ceremony held yesterday together with Mr Thomas Lee, HKFI Chairman, and other officiating guests.
“What we have today can be attributed largely to the extraordinary foresight and determination of our founding members to make our industry more professional and to promote the interests of consumers. Working closely with the Government and particularly the Insurance Authority, the HKFI has helped develop and administer an effective system of regulating the conduct of our industry," said HKFI Chairman Mr Thomas Lee. "HKFI will continue to foster and widen connections with our stakeholders in the community, act as the voice of our members and the industry and help shape a better future for the insurance industry of Hong Kong.”
Officiating at the ceremony, Financial Secretary Mr John Tsang commented that, “Insurance is a vital pillar of Hong Kong’s financial services industry. Its success would hardly be possible without the innovation and unwavering support from the HKFI. Over the years, the HKFI has encouraged high standards of professional practices among insurance practitioners and enhanced consumer education. The steadfast commitment of the HKFI in serving the community through various meaningful projects has further enhanced the image of the insurance industry.”
The highlight of the event was the launch of the newly revamped HKFI website.
To celebrate the silver jubilee of the HKFI, the website is rebuilt from the users' point of view with enhanced technology and refreshing layout. It offers comprehensive information within and about the industry - from insurance know-how to the latest consumer protection mechanisms; from applying for an insurance policy to making a claim; from searching for an insurance agent to registering as an insurance agent. The up-graded website can be viewed in mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets and computers so that users can obtain updated information at anytime and from anywhere. Welcome to visit us at www.hkfi.org.hk.
To mark the 25th anniversary of the HKFI, a time capsule ceremony was held to capture and preserve the efforts, contributions and accomplishments of industry practitioners. Officiating at the ceremony are (from left) Insurance Claims Complaints Panel Chairman Michael Tsui, HKFI Chairman Thomas Lee, Financial Secretary John Tsang, Insurance Agents Registration Board Chairman Ambrose Cheung, Legislative Councillor K P Chan, Commissioner of Insurance Annie Choi and HKFI Chief Executive Peter Tam.
