The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Appoints 2022/2023 New Office Bearers

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) announces today (29 April 2022) the appointment of its Governing Committee for the term 2022/2023:

Ms Winnie Wong has over 20 years’ experience in Insurance and Risk Management Consulting and is a recognized industry expert, regularly speaking at a number of industry conferences and is very active in the insurance industry and community. Ms Orchis Li has more than 20 years of experience with the insurance industry and has worked with a number of multinational insurance companies.
 
Under the Governing Committee of the HKFI, there are two Councils responsible for dealing with all technical matters concerning general insurance and life insurance respectively. The General Insurance Council is chaired by Ms Sally Wan while the Life Insurance Council is chaired by Mr Damien Green.
 
Established in August 1988, the HKFI enjoys full recognition by the HKSAR Government as the representative insurer body of the industry. It exists to promote insurance to the people of Hong Kong and build consumer confidence in the industry by promoting high standards of ethics and professionalism amongst its Members.

Ms Winnie Wong, JP
The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) Chairman 2022/2023

Ms Winnie Wong is the Chairman of HKFI and a Councillor at the General Insurance Council. She also serves as the Chairman of Task Force on Insurance-linked Securities.

Winnie is the CEO & Executive Director of Asia Insurance Company Limited (a leading composite insurance company in Hong Kong) and Avo Insurance Company Limited. Prior to Asia Insurance, she was the CEO of Aon Risk Solutions Hong Kong/Macau and Assistant General Manager of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance. She has over 20 years’ experience in Insurance and Risk Management Consulting.

Winnie was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in July 2021. She is a recognized industry expert, regularly speaking at a number of industry conferences and is very active in the insurance industry and community. She is currently a Board Member of the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) / Convenor of the New Business Committee of FSDC. She also sits on The Human Resources Planning Commission, The Independent Commission on Remuneration for Members of the Executive Council and the Legislature, and Officials under the Political Appointment system of the HKSAR, The Resolvability Review Tribunal, Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Advisory Committee, Higher Rights Assessment Board, HKTDC Belt and Road Committee - Professional Services Working Group and FSTB Steering Committee on the Pilot Program to Enhance Talent Training for the Insurance Sector.

Winnie is also a Councilor/Investment Committee Member of Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Hong Kong and Employees Compensation Insurer Insolvency Bureau. She is a board member and Honorary Treasurer of Zonta Club of New Territories, Member of Board of Trustees and Board of Director of the Alumni Association of Shaw College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), also member of the MBA Alumni Advisory Board of The HK University of Science & Technology (HKUST). Advisor of Our Hong Kong Foundation and Honourary Advisory Board Member of Actuarial Society of Hong Kong. She was Chairperson of the Fire Insurance Association in 2003 and first female President of the Hong Kong Insurers Club in 2008.

Winnie graduated from CUHK, obtained an MBA Degree from HKUST and completed the International Management Development Program at The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is also a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and fellow member (FCII) of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) of the Insurance Institute of America.

Ms Orchis Li
HKFI Deputy Chairman 2022/2023

Ms Orchis Li is the Deputy Chairman of HKFI and a Councillor of the Life Insurance Council. She also serves as the Chairman of the LIC Legal Working Group and Actuarial Working Group, and is a member of the Reinsurers’ Forum and Life Operation and Risk Management Working Group. She has also been appointed as a member of the Industry Advisory Committee with the Insurance Authority, the Complaints Panel under The Insurance Complaints Bureau, the Appeal Panel on Disciplinary Actions for the VHIS and the Products Advisory Committee with the Securities and Futures Commission. Orchis is also an active member of various committees with the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong.

Orchis is the General Manager of Gen Re’s Hong Kong Branch. She joined Gen Re in 2015 and is responsible for the management of the Hong Kong branch and MNCs client relationships. Orchis also has the responsibilities of driving InsurTech strategy as well as analytics and development of Critical Illness products for Asia. She has more than 20 years of experience with the insurance industry and prior to joining Gen Re, Orchis had worked with a number of multinational insurance companies.

Orchis is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Ms Sally Wan
General Insurance Council Chairman 2022/2023

Ms Sally Wan is the Chairman of the General Insurance Council, a Governing Committee Member of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, and a Councillor of the Life Insurance Council. She serves as a member of Industry Advisory Committee on General Business for the Insurance Authority, a Council Member of Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Hong Kong and a member of Market Development Committee for the Financial Services Development Council. She is a member of the HKMA Insurance Management Committee, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, and the Programme Advisory Committee of Executive Master of Science in Insurance at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

Sally is the Chief Executive Officer of AXA Greater China and is responsible for the management and operations of Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China.

Sally has extensive management and business development experience in insurance companies covering Asia Pacific Region. She has held a number of senior positions in major insurance companies in Asia, including Hong Kong and Japan.

Prior to joining AXA Hong Kong and Macau in 2018, Sally was with AIA Group for more than 11 years in various senior positions including Regional Director in Financial Planning and Management and Regional Business Development Director. She spent 7 years in Tokyo with Allianz Fire and Marine Japan Ltd as Chief Financial Officer and other senior positions. She started her career in KPMG Hong Kong in 1996.

Sally is a qualified accountant with CPA Australia and holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from The University of New South Wales, Australia.

Mr Damien Green
Life Insurance Council Chairman 2022/2023

Mr Damien Green is the Chairman of the Life Insurance Council and a Governing Committee Member of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers. He also serves as a Chairman of the ILAS Product Working Group.

Mr Green is Chief Executive Officer of Manulife (International) Limited, overseeing Manulife's businesses in Hong Kong and Macau. He is also a member of Manulife's Asia Division Executive Committee (ADEC).

Mr Green joined Manulife in December 2018 initially as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Asia, responsible for developing and executing Manulife's strategic priorities in the region, as well as advancing its transformation agenda of becoming a digital, customer-centric market leader.

Mr Green has previously held a number of senior executive and board positions in multiple Asian markets and industry segments including life, pensions and employee benefits. He has 20 years of leadership experience across the Asia-Pacific, including as President and CEO of MetLife Korea, Regional Executive overseeing MetLife’s Hong Kong, Malaysia and Vietnam operations; Regional Head of AIA’s group life, health and pension businesses; CEO of AIA Australia; and CEO of MetLife Australia. Before this, he also held key leadership positions in the Australian superannuation sector.
